NIHR organizes awareness lecture on mockery and its impact on the rights of the child
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) organized an awareness lecture for the Child Rights Committee students and the Scouts students of New Vision School, titled “Mockery and Ridicule and Their Impact on the Rights of the Child.” The lecture was held at the NIHR premises in Seef District, as part of the school’s initiatives aimed at promoting positive behavior, reinforcing the culture of child rights, and raising awareness among students across various educational stages.
The event included a number of training and interactive activities designed to raise students’ awareness of child rights and their importance, in addition to introducing them to the concept of mockery and ridicule and their forms within the school environment. The lecture emphasized that such practices may violate several fundamental rights of the child, including the right to dignity and respect, and the right to protection from all forms of abuse.
The session also provided guidance on how a child can protect themselves and respond appropriately when exposed to such behaviors. Furthermore, the lecture highlighted the important role of schools in establishing a safe and supportive educational environment that encourages mutual respect, as well as the role of families in strengthening a child’s self-confidence and providing psychological and educational support. Cooperation between the school and the family was affirmed as a key factor in ensuring the protection of children’s rights.
